Today I viewed Gabriela's latest blog posting. I was humbled by the recounting of her experience with these little children.
I can tell you it sure was a learning experience for me, because truthfully, I never thought she had it in her to see past her own self.
Oh don't get me wrong she's beyond smart, hilariously funny, but she's young. And that you see is where I got stuck. As a teenager I dreamed of the time when my parents would realize that I was a contributing member to society. In my life sadly that didn't happen until after I got married and somehow that legitimized me.
I always vowed that if I had girls, I would make sure they knew that the world was their oyster and that they could do anything without having to depend on a man. Trust me I love men, so this isn't a rant about them. I just wanted my daughters to be able to do stuff on their own.
That same vow, you see is the reason why I'm so surprised that Gabriela did this. I suddenly realized that I didn´t really meant it! I take it back! I want you home with me forever! After I stopped hyperventilating, I knew that this is absolutely the right thing for everybody.

So this is it
I started this blog because of Gabriela. I don't pretend to be as clever or creative as she is, but I thought having a place where I can dump my thoughts and pictures on my up coming trip to Europe would make a nice record of the whole event.
We're flying to Madrid from Toronto on August 11. I'm counting the days...actually I really am counting the days. I have a "countdown" feature on my cel that will beep a reminder 24 hours before we leave. Just in the event we forget.
We have a 5 hour stop over in Philadelphia PA. Just enough time to grab a cab and have a look around.
